Record daily snowfall and precipitation total at the Marquette
NWS office for December 13th...
The total snowfall for December 13th at the National Weather Service
office in Negaunee township was 16.8 inches. This broke the previous
record of 7.4 inches set in 1973. Total precipitation for the 13th
was 0.74 inch which broke the previous record of 0.62 inch set in
1968.

township date back to 1961.
A strong clipper system that moved across Lake Superior Saturday
night through Monday brought significant snow and wind to west and
central Upper Michigan. The following are peak wind speeds and total
snowfall amounts across west and central Upper Michigan.
Peak wind speeds are from automated weather observing sites and
occurred from Sunday evening into Monday morning.

observers... starting from 8 am Saturday morning until 8 am Monday
morning... however most of the snowfall occurred after midnight
Saturday night.
Note: locations with an "*" also include snowfall from 8 am to 8 PM
Monday but no addition to liquid equivalent precipitation.
